National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, an engineering and technology institute, was established in 1963.

This institution, is a joint enterprise of the Government of India and the State Government of Haryana.

B. Tech Courses: The admission to these B. Tech courses is done through an All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE).

Research facilities are also available in all the departments.

It was in 1995 that the first incarnation of what was later to become LITERATI, came into being. Technospect - 95 as the event was called, was the first of national level students technical symposia organised by REC Kurukshetra. 1996 saw the event metamorphosing into Literati.

The students bring out an annual Magazine "The Vulcan" in which technical and literary articles contributed by the students are published in both English and Hindi. The Editorial Board also organizes various competitive activities like creative writing, cartooning, photography etc. so as to nurture creative talents among the students of this institution.

Microbus:

One of the most professional outfits in the institute, it represents the 'Electronic People'. They are renowned for organising techno-cultural extravaganzas and have a annual paper presentation contests - APEX which has been a big event for the last 5 years.

Technobyte:

Hi-tech people from the hi-tech branch, they represent the perfect blend of professionalism and techno-wizardry. They have wide ranging experience in organising elaborate and effective programmes thus living up to their motto of - "Extending your reach".

Infrastructure:

Representing the Civil Engineering students of the institute, it strives to strike the perfect balance between the technical and cultural aspects of NIT life and it is instrumental in getting the Civilians from the fields on to the stage.

Mech-Soc:

The "Efficiency people", as they are called are all about being efficient. Prodigious in its work and programmes, it is one of the oldest societies of NIT, It is, as the name suggests, the society of the Mechanical Engineering Students.

Electroreck:

A society of Electrical Engineering students of the institute, it has been shining bright and hard on the techno-cultural scene of the institute and rightly deserves the accolade that it gets.
